Prague being a metropolis of culture of Czech Republic, it would only make sense for me to visit one of their oldest hotels; Carlo IV.
Formerly known as a bank, it is now serving as one of the top luxury hotels in Prague.
Beautifully decorated rooms, exquisite decor and a magnificent indoor pool and spa area that will please any wellness fanatics.
Located in the heart in Nove Mesto, Carlo IV is only at a walking distance from all the major attractions in Prague.
When you first walk in, you cannot hold the astonishment you will feel when contemplating the design of the lobby. A palace with its history pouring down the renaissance revival architecture. All the historical elements can still be seen; the high ceiling, the marble columns, the neo renaissance art and the exotic floral display.
Also, from time to time, you may experience a harpist performance during breakfast time. Without a doubt, this place screams grandeur and luxury.
You will also find the vault bar on your right as you walk in.
This lounge area is a place to relax, have a glass of Czech wine or cognac and read your daily dose of Vogue CZ.
Continuing with the same vision, the Carlo IV made sure all the rooms in the hotel still present an element of history and comfort. Their standard rooms ranging from classic to executive are fairly large and quiet.
You will find a nice warm tone in the colours that matches the overall look and feel of the hotel. Not to forget their plush marble bathrooms. The Italian brand Dedica Anthology really created a home away from home for any travellers seeking an ultimate luxury experience in Prague.
Their junior suites are simply fabulous and are retaining the same design concept, separate by a small living room/sitting area, these rooms are perfect for anyone looking for a bit more privacy or/and space.
Your eyes are already mesmerised by the architecture of the hotel upon your arrival, but the service will certify the excellence of Carlo IV. The personal is here for you and to make you feel welcome.
Proud member of Autograph Collection and Marriott Bonvoy you can only expect quality in the service from check-in to check-out. I’ve noticed not one staff member in a bad mood, everyone is just happy and smiling.
Also, the sweets given to you while you wait for your room to be ready helps a lot!
Wellness & Spa
The reason why I recommend this hotel the most has to be their wellness area. The heated pool is humongous. It is set at such a lovely temperature, you will accidentally find yourself there for a long time. Not the mention the integrated jacuzzi, what a delight. A lovely sauna and steamed room are waiting for you in the back, after you are done enjoying your laps.
I’ve been frequenting this hotel for a while now and amongst all my hotel trips, I must say Carlo IV has the best wellness & spa area.
A stay at the Carlo IV cannot be complete without dining. Chef Paval Vacek is waiting for your palette to taste some of his delicious Czech and Italian creation. You will find a range of different food and vegetarian option.
Prague being one of my favourite city, Carlo IV has become my Czech home whenever I’m in town. I highly recommend this hotel; a splendid Néo-Renaissance building which has preserved the best of its past, located close to the centre of Prague and will make you enjoy this cultural city.
